After the success of last years’ Egg and Spoon Easter Extravaganza we decided to make ‘Active Easter’ an annual event here in St. Colmcille’s. On the day of the holidays all children lined out with their buddy classes to see who would be crowned this year's Egg and Spoon Champions. The challenge of this classic race was simple, but not easy; race to the finish line, while balancing a potato on a spoon...without dropping it, where our head judge Ms. Downey and members of the Active Committee stood.
The atmosphere around the playground was electric as each runner navigated the course. The first two to cross the line from each class had the opportunity to race again in a junior or senior end final with Tianai and Natalia coming out on top on the day. Our much sought-after teacher prize went to Ms. Haran, which left a few others calling on video footage of the event before accepting defeat.
A big thank you to the Active Committee who organised the event and helped make it such a cracking success. We’re already looking forward to next year’s race — sunny skies, steady hands, and maybe even a few surprise twists!
