Change of Practise - Green School Initiative

30th Jan 2026

As part of our ongoing commitment to the Green Schools Programme, we would like to inform you of a small change to our toilet hygiene routine for girls in the school. We have already addressed this with the girls at our whole school assembly last Friday.

From this bank holiday weekend going forward, girls will no longer be using blue tissue in school to dry their hands. Instead, they will be asked to bring a face cloth and a small wash bag to school. This change is being introduced to help reduce waste and to support more environmentally friendly and sustainable practices within our school.

Our school has an active Green School Committee, and we are currently working towards applying for our first Green Flag under the Litter and Waste theme. In order to achieve this, it is important that we all play our part in cutting down on unnecessary waste. The use of disposable blue tissue was identified by the Green Schools Committee as a significant contributor to our daily waste, and addressing this issue is an important step in our Green Schools journey.

Practical arrangements:

  • The face cloth and wash bag should be brought to school each Monday

  • They should be taken home daily and washed frequently

  • All items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name - children are not to share wash cloths

Thank you very much for your support and cooperation as we work together to make our school a greener place for everyone.
