We love a taster session here at St. Colmcille’s. So far this year we’ve had representatives from different sporting communities in our locality into our school to allow us to try a variety of sporting activities and encourage us to consider sign-up for these outside of school hours.
Kevin from Basketball Ireland joined us during Women in Sport week and offered a couple of sessions to the girls from 3rd, 5th and 6th class. These were thoroughly enjoyed by all and upon the arrival of a fresh set of basketballs, kindly donated from Basketball Ireland, the girls can be seen shooting hoops almost every day now the courts.
As many of our school community already avail of the tennis lessons on offer in our school community we were delighted to invite Emma in from Tennis Ireland for a one-off session with the junior end of the school during the month of April. The girls worked up a sweat learning a number of ball-skills on the day and are excited for the summer months to roll around when the rackets will become a more permanent feature on our grassy areas round the school.
