Kindness Week - 8th to 12th June 2026

5th Jun 2026

We are looking forward to celebrating Kindness Week in St. Colmcille’s Girls’ National School from Monday, June 8th to Friday, June 12th.

Throughout the week, our Student Council and staff have organised a variety of activities to promote kindness, inclusion, friendship and respect across our school community. Teachers have lots of wonderful lessons, discussions and activities planned to help spread kindness and encourage positive connections among all of our pupils.

To add to the fun, we will have a different optional dress-up theme each day!

Children will continue to wear their school uniform and can simply add a few fun accessories or items to celebrate each day's theme.

Monday – Inspire Someone to Dance with Joy
Wear something red or pink to represent love (e.g. a bobbin, socks, or a T-shirt).

Tuesday – Be a Rainbow in Someone Else’s Cloud
Wear something bright and colourful.

Wednesday – Kindness Starts With You
Wear something that makes you feel comfortable (e.g. a tracksuit, your favourite outfit, or your favourite sports jersey). All clothing should be school appropriate. As an extra act of kindness towards themselves, children may also bring a small treat to enjoy with their lunch on this day.

Thursday – Together We Make a Kinder World
Wear crazy socks to bring a smile to someone's face.

Friday – Be Proud to Stand Out
Wear a crazy hairstyle, a funny hat, or bright sunglasses.

Please note that participation in the daily dress-up themes is entirely optional. We do not expect families to purchase anything special for the week. Children are encouraged to use items they already have at home if they wish to take part.

We also have some exciting events planned throughout the week, including a dance performance, whole-school movie afternoon, garden party and picnic, and our Student Council led Kindness Assembly.

Whole-School Garden Party & Picnic – Thursday
Weather permitting, we will enjoy a whole-school garden party and picnic on Thursday. Children are welcome to bring a picnic blanket or small mat to sit on (optional-children can share), along with some picnic-style food (children will get their hot lunch as normal this day). Picnic food ideas might include sandwiches, wraps, fruit, vegetable sticks, cheese cubes, crackers, yoghurt or rice cakes.

We are really looking forward to what promises to be a lovely week filled with kindness, friendship and fun. Thank you for your continued support in helping us foster a caring and inclusive school community.

Kind regards,

Ms Ahern and the Student Council
